For National Poetry Day, Hampden Gurney (working with Edgware Road Partnerships) ran a poetry competition within Key Stage 2 where pupils had to write a Tyburn format poem with the theme of Remember, in keeping with the World War I centenary. Ten winners were selected within Key Stage 2 and invited to read their poems aloud at this event.

Hampden Gurney pupils are celebrating Harvest in style this year! To launch RE week, John Hardwick from Barnabas in Schools www.barnabasinschools.org.uk, visited and ran workshops with each class on a variety of values relating to harvest.

Breakfast Club will once again be available for pupils from 8:00 am with Ms Debbie and Ms Jenny. Please see the office if you are interested in signing up. A warm welcome to all pupils and parents on an exciting first day back at Hampden Gurney. It has been wonderful to see so many smartly dressed children with smiling faces ready for an exciting new term. Please note that the clubs timetable will be finalised this week with information letters being sent out on Monday 8th September.

Reception had a fantastic morning on Tuesday when the Baker Street Pizza Express Team taught us all how to make delicious pizzas.

Year 6 were lucky enough to attend the 37th Annual Balfour Beatty London Youth Games - Europe's largest annual youth sports event. Children from schools in many boroughs across Greater London all convened at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre to compete in a variety of sports such as gymnastics and track and field.
